ISLE OF WIGHT FESTIVAL, JUNE 2006

The Trust was invited to The Nokia Isle of Wight Festival, where local college students Kati Roberts and Nicola Crouch helped distribute many thousands of Festival Safety leaflets.

The Trust was also able to secure the support of several superstars at the festival, and recorded video messages with them. The messages are available to view below:

Coldplay dedicated their song 'Talk' to Lucie's memory during the final set of the weekend. The Trust would like to thank all the stars for their time, and for continuing to support us. Kate Moss has been seen wearing one of our wristbands, along with The Kooks, making it this years 'must-have' fashion accessory! Special thanks is due to John Giddings, the organiser of the festival, and his team at Solo.

MIDSUMMER OPERA AT PRIORY BAY

At the other end of the culture scale, two fabulous events were put on at the Priory Bay Hotel on the Isle of Wight. Strauss' Die Fledermaus was performed to an extremely high standard by the touring arm of Swansea City Opera in dramatic 11th century outdoor surroundings. Guests were treated to Champagne, canapes, and a very special dinner prepared from local produce. Guests arrived by hovercraft and helicopter and raised valuable funds for The Trust and another Island charity, the Kit Hobday appeal. Sadly Kit passed away on the 21st of June.

A short video of the evening is available to watch here.

The pictures shown are all taken by leading photographer Jessica Dobbs. She has donated these images to The Trust, and both these and more from the event can be purchased online here. Jessica has kindly offered to make a donation to The Trust for each image sold. Click on each image for a larger view.

The Trust would like to thank all involved with these fabulous nights, especially Andrew Palmer and his team at The Priory Hotel and all the guests for their kind donations.

MISS ESSEX 2006 FINAL

The Lucie Blackman Trust was chosen as the charity of choice by the organisers of Miss Essex, part of the Miss England competition. Lee and Karen of Modelhub felt it was a great opportunity to raise funds for The Trust, and also to get the Personal Safety messages out to the young people of Essex. The evening was a great success with a substantial amount being raised. An auction was held with lots donated by GoTravel Insurance, our official insurance partners, Vinnie Day jewellery, Nicole Fahri, and many more. Aimee Croysdill and her team put on a fashion show showcasing the work of a new designer, and this too raised money.

Held at Stockbrook Country Club near Billericay, the evening saw Jade Eden crowned as Miss Essex, with Katy Wright Miss Charity - a title bestowed on her for her work with The Trust.

Thanks are due to everyone involved in this event, the organisers, sponsors, audience and contestants. Congratulations to the winners!
