BELFAST MARATHON

The Trust is pleased to announce that David Sweet ran the Belfast Marathon on May 1st, and is donating all the money he raised through sponsorship to The Lucie Blackman Trust. David, pictured in training here, is 19 and currently studying philosophy at Manchester Metropoliton University.

David has been interested in sports from an early age, enjoying running long distance at school and representing the Isle of Wight in Cross Country when he was 14 and 15.

David said, "I'm doing the Belfast marathon because me and my Uni mate Tanya, who lives in Belfast, often go jogging together. She did the Belfast half marathon last year and asked me if i wanted to do the full one with her this year. We used to jog a couple of times a week but ever since january we've been sticking to a schedule of about 4 times a week.

"As it's my first marathon I did want toraise money and get sponsorship.
The Lucie Blackman Trust was the obvious charity for me. I have known the family ever since year 5, so I guess from when I was 10 or 11, so I know what a terrible upsetting time it was.

"I knew Tim set up SafetyText some time ago and then later they sponsored our beach soccer team when we were having problems raising funds.

SafetyText was developed by The

Lucie Blackman Trust, and as it's a local Isle of Wight charity it's the top choice charity, and I would like to raise as much money as I can for it."

David completed the marathon in 4 hours and 14 minutes

The Trust is extremely grateful to David for his efforts.
