Who is behind this site?

Tim Blackman

As with any family tragedy, the untimely death
of my daughter left a massive hole in my life.
I felt the emotions that surrounded Lucie’s disappearance needed to be channelled in
a positive way. With that in mind I have now become a great campaigner for personal safety and with this site we aim to promote anything that could prevent other families suffering.
It’s very easy to sit back and say it won’t happen to me, unfortunately, as I found out, it can, and in my case did. I developed SafetyText as part of this campaign, please click on the link to see a positive way to protect your loved ones.

In think that most people of a certain age are bemused by the speed at which technology moves. The advances are numerous each year and I feel the Lucie Blackman Trust has identified a basic need. Many of these ideas
can be used to help ensure personal safety.
The trust’s ability to collect and publicise them
in one place, and then provide education materials will be of great help to anyone wanting to address safety concerns. Lucie’s dad, Tim, has shown great resilience and bravery with the loss of his daughter, his aim now is to ensure more parents don’t suffer the same way.

The safety of family and friends is a basic need for everyone in this life, but with frightening regularity we hear about missing children, drug rape, and natural disasters, to name but a few.
In 2004 Tim Blackman and Dave Russell devised a personal mobile phone safety system called SafetyText. Their aim was to produce a system that anyone with a UK mobile phone could use, anywhere in the world to help protect themselves. That aim has now been achieved.
It soon became clear there was more technology that could be used or adapted. Aimed at educating and informing, this is why The Lucie Blackman Trust exists.

We welcome partners and information that will support work in this area.
